ABSTRACT
My approach on finding a cure, solution, to revitalize, reuse or refurbish “left-over” areas in Tirana city, has to do with the creation of programmatic self-sufficient systems. A self-sufficient system means the creation of a correlation between two types of interventions, permanent and temporary architecture, that try to complement one another, such a way creating the “Urban Healers”. The research treats how permanent and temporary reacts to one another and how several combinations between them will provide different “healing” methods to be implemented in the proper left over area. This Left Over areas are classified in four different groups as follows: Urban Central Plazas; Vacant Buildings; Neighborhood’s inner courtyards; and Ex-Industrial Areas. Chosen as a first layer to implement this methodology and building up the entire project is the ex-industrial area’s network in Tirana.
